National Administration Guidelines and cybersafety

Boards of trustees have a number of statutory obligations under the National Administrative Guidelines (NAGs). The key responsibility in the eyes of the school’s community and indeed of society at large, is NAG 5:

Each board of trustees is also required to:

(i)

Provide a safe physical and emotional environment for students;

(ii)

Comply in full with any legislation currently in force or that may be developed to ensure the safety of students and employees.

NAG 5 is central to establishing and maintaining a cybersafe learning environment. Education Review Officers are likely to ask about the policies and practices related to cybersafety during their scheduled reviews of schools.
