The librarian’s role

There are a variety of different types of libraries in today’s schools, ranging from the information centre, (the traditional library with a number of computers varying from one or two computers to several in a pod), to an ICT suite.

The librarian brings to the cybersafety team a useful perspective, knowledge and skills, including:

    • Specialist input into the issue of appropriate ‘filtering’ levels
    • Ideas and experiences about how to manage situations where the supervision of students is more difficult
    • Expertise in the use of ICT for research
    • Knowledge of specific online resources that are appropriate for students to access.
